DARK SKINNED BROTHER
I'm that nigga in the west
they sent back home
to swallow the night.
I swore by those
desert sands
colorful dunes
tropical beaches
giant trees
and the great waters of Nile.
no matter
the dirt of dusts
rubbing my skin
I'll never wash away
my history.
I'll remain
the dark skinned brother
the best color of
the rain.
I'm the touch
of hope in Tanzania
the charming beauty
of the people in Ethiopia
the purest form of gold
in South Africa.
no matter
the storms
breaking my roof
I'll still sing it out
loud to the clouds
that I'm black and
proud.
