MICROPOETRY: SHADEISM

 By Emmanuel Oghenevwaire Ejirefe

SHADEISM

I have been the subject of bigotry

Subjugated under the pastels

I've battled days with thoughts and pleas

Deprived of equity in an exasperating way

Used and aligned with shame

Was I created differently?

Labelled with failure?

In a world with other creatures, but being inferior

Things have fallen apart

Survived on a meal for days!

Drowsed with souls in an edifice for a soul.

Is the black skin a badge of shame?

It ought to be the symbol of national greatness!

I look at my skin and it's glowing with constellation of ancestors...

I'm not a shame!
