MICROFICTION: MANGLED BODIES
By Edith Brown
Image by Edith BrownMangled bodies have been turning up all over school lately and the students are scared.
Ten murders in one week, all committed with a rock smashed on their faces, bodies found under a sculpture in school and still nobody knew who the killer was.
Rumors about a supernaturally cursed sculpture near the school big gate, was circulating throughout school.
After classes that day, I asked the old security man at the big gate if the rumours were true. He nodded in affirmation. " One weird thing found common in all the murdered victims is that the last picture of them in their phone gallery was a distorted image of them in front of that sculpture". I asked him which sculpture he was talking about as there were many sculptures near the school's big gate. He pointed to the one under the tree.
I chuckled.
He must be delusional I took a picture of my best friend yesterday at that same spot and she is still alive. We took another picture right after our last class ended today, so what the hell is he yapping about?
I thanked the old security man and went on my way.
I didn't tell him I took a picture with my friend there just this morning before he would start with his conspiracy theories.
The next day, another body was found near the sculpture under the tree, this time a very familiar one.
