Poem: Tell Them
By Tega Emoghwanre
Tell Achebe,
That my mind is no longer at ease
And I am a man of the people
Tell him,
That things will definitely fall apart
Tell Soyinka,
That the road he led me to was misleading
That I am a strong breed
Tell him,
That I am not a reincarnate of Abiku
Tell Buchi,
That I am far from being a second class citizen,
Tell her,
That I can afford her daughter's bride price
And I will make her to relish the joys of motherhood.
Tell Adichie,
That I am not an Americanah,
That I will not be cajoled by her purple hibiscus
Tell her,
That I can see beyond half of the yellow sun
And there is no thing around my neck.
Tell Isidore,
That his writing prowess has led him to unravel the myth of Africa,
Tell him,
That he is embarking on his last duty
And we are all offshoots of the victims
Tell Ngugi,
That I don't crave for a grain of wheat because I won't be sastified
Tell him,
That I won't take part in the trial of Dedan Kimathi
And I will definitely marry when I want.

Tell Buchi and Tell Ngugi are my best stanzas. The coherence is applaudable.
